Åse Larsjos works as an ornament-painter within traditional Dalecarlian painting, allowing innovative unique re-creating. Though emphazising her own manner it is important for her to preserve knowledge and tradition. Partially she has learnt ornament-painting by attending classes given by persons well known within the branch. As to the rest she is a self-taught person. Since her starting in 1996 as an ornament-painter the number of orders in Dalecarlia as well as around Sweden is increasing.
In 2004 the Swedish National Trade business Association of Stockholm selected Åse to be one of the leaders of an enterprise who received the Swedish Crown Princess Victoria as her guest during the Princess´es trade business visits in Dalecarlia.
Åse Larsjos has a pedagogic education and many years of experience of workshops and courses in peasant painting and so called "kurbits painting". Kurbits is a richly decorated floral motif in Dalecarlian painting. She gives good instructions to those interested in trying or developing their
painting. She also offers custom-made courses.
Åse´s interest in people and her finding pleasure in spreading knowledge and joy was noticed when ske was awarded a cultural prize for her many years of cultural commitment and for her "catching enthusiasm". With steady strokes of the brush she leaves beautiful memories behind.
